Lotus builds galvanized steel rollers, 1008 ERW tube with a hot-dip zinc coat: the right balance of strength, corrosion resistance and cost for most warehouse and distribution conveyors. If your application needs stainless or another material, tell us what it is and we'll say straight whether we can build it.
Roller diameter is driven by the load you are conveying and the smallest package length you need to support. Larger diameters run more smoothly and resist deflection over longer spans; smaller diameters let shorter packages bridge between rollers without falling. Diameter alone does not determine load capacity — wall gauge, shaft size, and bearing selection matter just as much. For most warehouse, e-commerce, and parcel-handling applications, 1.9" outer diameter is the industry standard, and Lotus manufactures both 1.875" and 1.9" OD rollers as standard production.
Gravity conveyors use the force of gravity (a small downward slope) to move product along non-driven rollers — simple, low-maintenance, and economical. Powered roller conveyors (including CDLR — chain-driven live roller) use motors and drives to move product along powered rollers, allowing horizontal travel, accumulation control, and speed regulation. Lotus specializes in idler rollers for gravity conveyor systems today. If your program calls for powered or CDLR rollers, tell us about your requirements — we want to hear where your conveyor program is heading.
CDLR (chain-driven live roller) conveyor uses a chain to drive each roller, providing positive accumulation and speed control across long horizontal runs — common for heavier loads and pallet handling. Gravity conveyor uses unpowered idler rollers on a slight decline, relying on gravity for product movement — common for picking, packing, and parcel sortation. Lotus specializes in idler rollers for gravity systems; if you have a CDLR requirement, tell us about your program.

Grooves on the 1.9" are standard; 14 ga walls, polyurethane sleeves and non-precision bearings are available on request. Gravity idler rollers are our specialty today. Yes, on request: a 1/8" polyurethane sleeve for grip, noise reduction and product protection. You set where it starts and how much of the roller it covers.
